Broadwater County Commission Meeting June 17, 2019
Commissioners are in the process of preparing the 2019-2020 Fiscal Year Budget. Several areas of the budget are being amended due to higher expenditures and potential lower revenues.
Several of the departments are short staffed due to an increase in work load.
Recently the Solid Waste Department under the administrative direction of the Public Works Director Mary Hendrickson overhauled the department reducing refuse site access and increased the solid waste fees. This was all done to bring the department up out of the red.
Hospital District is highly ridden in liability debt. Without enough revenue to continue to maintain the hospital the District is hoping for a takeover from a large medical company.
Citizens are seeking answers from the commission on multiple issues as the county continues to grow placing higher demands on the infrastructure. Public Safety is on the hot seat to provide service within the budget available.
June 30th is the end of the fiscal year and it will take some time to finalize the new budget. The budget reserves that are needed to hold over departments until the new budget is finalized are in short supply in some departments.
